General Catalyst, Accomplice back flight booking app maker

Cambridge-based Freebird Inc., the company behind a flight rebooking app aimed at corporate travelers, has raised $5 million from venture capital investors General Catalyst and Accomplice.

“Freebird is really onto something,” Joel Cutler, managing director at General Catalyst, said in a statement. “Interruptions in air travel are more common than any of us like. Freebird’s ability to detect problems and create instant alternatives is gaining great traction with TMCs and their corporate clients.”

Cutler recently landed at No. 49 on Forbes magazines Midas List of the most successful venture capitalists of the past five years, one of five local VCs on the list.
